yeah. I see that now after playing with it. I got my boxes wired up tonight..... the tracking number says I’ve got 10 more days of shipping to usps.. it made it through customs already.... and I also found your YouTube account when I was looking up how to ID the pixies..... what kind of AR was that you were having trouble with?

Out of curiosity was you able to view my old show videos? I had to go look at the video you referenced because I have built so many and every now and then have a bad part. Then I noticed the Christmas videos. I haven't been on the youtube account in a while , use Vimeo now. They are more forgiving.

The instructions on setting up the pixie controllers along with a written step by step is under the General Hardware section of the forums pinned a the very top.

That was a little toy I built and took with me to James Morris house to test, the video was before testing.

Also- did you take Don up on his S5 webinars? I did, though I missed a few mins due to a bad selection of laptops, I tried to use my sequencing lap top to view the seminar and couldn't use it to work. Had to make a quick change.

I did not look for any videos, at the time i didnt have any more time to watch after i watched the ID set video.... and it is just as simple as setting up the AC controllers.

I have not watched any Webinars.

S5 is completely different... I am having trouble figuring out how to change the colors of the preset motion effects. still working on it. ill figure it out. i am playing around with it now... working on Thriller right now.......

I uploaded my Enter Sandman that i ran last year under AC controllers and I ran it under my RGB outline.. lol it set up each pixel on my columns as a channel and all had different colors. it was wild.... ive got some time... hopefully my plant (machinist/Millwright) runs good tonight and I can play with it tonight.

As for strips vs pixels, there are advantages and disadvantages of each.  A LOT of it is personal preference.  So here are my opinions.

Pixels look a lot more like Christmas, ribbons on a roof makes it look like a nightclub or casino.

Pixels can be spaced as whatever interval you want, ribbons are available only in a few spacings.

Pixels are FAR easier to repair when (not if) a pixel fails.

Ribbons are more fragile than pixels.

On my roofline, I have GE Color Effects bulbs (between the size of a C7 and a C9) spaced about 8 inches apart.  My viewing distance is farther than yours.

As for controllers, there is a huge amount of variation.  If you want to stay with LOR network controllers, it means Pixie series.  If you go with E1.31, you have a lot of options - both LOR and others.

With smart nodes of almost any type, you are generally better off to have several smaller controllers that are close to the props rather than one controller with long cables (they don't work).

One other thought is wiring safety.  Since you are doing a lot of stuff on your porch, make sure you don't leave a huge tripping hazard.  If the underside or the roof over the porch follows the slope of the roof, you could mount a controller to the underside of the roof  and it would be largely out of sight and you could run all the wiring overhead.  You could also likely mount them to the house side of the columns and they would not show in the dark.  A couple of examples that use this annotated photo:

weigh2fast4u_house_example.png

2) Uses two Pixie 8 controllers.  Mount each controller at the green arrow.  Each controller feeds three columns, half the roof, half the eves, and one window.  One also feeds the door (six and seven outputs).

I am going with the 2 pixie 8s.....

i was planning on using 1 channel for the roof. and 1 channel for the facia.... for easier sequencing... I have both controllers set for the unit ID 01 and 02.

some of my lights came in.. i only ordered 200 to start with....

after testing. I realize i am going to have to power inject every 40 nodes for a full bright white

the roof will be 142 nodes if i space them 2 inches apart with 4 PI points.

119 if i space them 3 inches apart. with 3 PI points.

will this be okay?

Does the PIs take some of the load off of the 350w meanwell power supply?

based off of JR's longest run of around 150 of these, Im thinking this will be okay.

I dont really wanna seperate the roof and facia. IDK how sequencing half the roof and half the facia would be... i think it would be a touch more aggravation.

Pixie 8 uses EIGHT ID's per controller 01 - 08, 09 - 0F  (your Pro level is more than good for this)  You set the controller to the bold

Try some small rare earth magnets. Glue one to the clip and slide the other or something under the j chanel

You can get rem's on amazon really cheap, just be careful with them.

Glad you got everything working.
