T34 Flyer Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 My control cables (cat 5 and cat 6) run approximately 370 feet and everything works fine. How long can you run out from the first controller? When does bridge tap become a problem? Thanks Brad
-klb- Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 If you are not using an ELL, or a SC-485, there is no limit on the first controller run, other than the max chain length, of 4,000 feet. If I understand correctly, bridge tap refers to a T shaped network, where your subscriber is some length off the main line, that extends past the subscriber. But with LOR daisy chained correctly, each controller is just a connector in the main line, with no appreciable leg off the main line, and thus no reflections. But if you try to put the controllers in some non linear topology, where there are more than 2 cable ends, you can create problems. 1
