Cosmic colour ribbon original 2012

Too bad you're in Canda, saw your other post about the CCR's, and if you were in my area (Orlando, FL), I have some old used original CCR ribbons, but don't know if they are in their full length original size, looks like some have been cut down.

But, if you had been local to me, you could have come and picked them up for free.  I know they are 12V, but I can't read or see the chip # on them.

They were given to me, but I'll never use them, currently they are just dust collectors.  Not even sure how many I have, they're all just tossed in a box together.

You will have to swap the dangle to the one needed by the old controller.

Thank you but need smart strip. Do you have link for them.

thank you

The original CCRs (CR150D) were 12v LPD8603 and were four wire as they had a separate clock wire.

Here is the original manual for them:  https://www1.lightorama.com/PDF/CR150D_Man_Web.pdf

Here you can purchase some:  https://www.amazon.com/LPD6803-SMD5050-150LEDs-Waterproofing-Skipping/dp/B08S31QCLD/ref=sr_1_4?crid=37UPLTGBI5IFN&keywords=lpd6803+pixel&qid=1695909622&sprefix=lpd6803+pixel%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-4

Yep, ready to go. You do not have to change pixel type or anything. Since you stated you had original CCRs they should be a four wire ribbon. The only thing you may need to verify is color order, RGB, BRG or GBR.

Just to clear things up:

'Programming' as you used it, is your sequence/show.  Your replacement is a Like kind device (smart) so no changes. This would be the same as if you replaced the Cosmic color controller/strings with a Pixie and newer nodes.

OTOH  +IF+ the chip in the device HAD changed models, or the color order  the CONTROLLER settings (using HU) would need to be adjusted. 💡 If in doubt: Use HU to turn on a single color at a time. if they light up correctly 👍 If you turned on Red , but Green came on, the your order needs to be changed (probably GRB, but test the other 2)

The rest is good.

Hi

I just tried to buy the one you referenced on Amazon, but it is sold out. Do you know of any other sources?

I found this on Superlighting do you think it is the same.

Thanks

It's the same ic, LPD6803 but it is double the price and it has the IP65 (epoxy resin) and not the higher IP67 (silicon tube).

Hey Don, can the original CCRs use any other IC other then the four wire LPD6803 or is it locked? I can't find anything in the manual or other information about any other IC compatibility.

Others have said this is the wrong kind.    Sorry about that.  I have purchased several kinds for different projects over the years and pulled that from past orders too quickly.

  • 4 weeks later...

I just got my replacement ribbon. The ribbon show what's connects where, but not sure what the pin outs are for the CR150d.

I looked in the manual but can't find the pin outs.

Does anyone know them by chance.

Thanks
