Just wondering because the 25 foot CAT 5 I am using may not be enough (might miss it by only a couple of feet) so i may have to go to a 50 (unless i can find a 35 or make my own) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
-klb- Posted October 1, 2009 Share Posted October 1, 2009 As long as it is a USB version, and not the serial one, and you are going to a controller, not a wireless linker, or iDMX, there is no limit on the distance to the first controller, short of the implications on the total buss length.The serial adapter has a 50 foot limit on the distance to the first controller, because the adapter is powered by the first controller. The USB adapters are powered by the USB port.I have not measured, but on the city show, one of the first runs is over 100 feet, with no issues.
