Must change display - Controller Programing Questions

I have to move 8 channels (9-16) from Unit 1, to the other side of my yard. I will pull out another controller (Unit 5) that has a bad number 3 channel, and I want to use channels 9-16 on Unit 5.

If I leave channels 9-16 blank on Unit 1 and I leave 1-8 blank on Unit 5, will S2 still control the show without any complications?

I know that means I will have to go in and redifine each of the various channels that need to be changed, what else am I missing?

Any suggestions how to do this the easiest way possible?

That would work. You could also just redefine unit 5 as unit 1 and plug your 8 channels into your 2nd #1 controller.
