Yes, its a comm chip. If you put a HD ticket in requesting a comm chip they charge either $2 0r $4 i cant recall.

Thanks, I'll do that.  That would've been cheaper than replacing it.

If and when I get the new comm chip and test the card out, and that corrects the problem, looks like I'll be investing in 2 - new 12V power supplies, a box, and some more H.C. EZ-Plug3 dangles to build a 2nd Pixie16D controller.  I have a few extra dangles(Both LOR and H.C.), but will need a few more X-Connector Dangles to complete the project, when I'm ready.

EDIT: Forgot to ask: Do all the Pixie16D controllers ude the same Comm chip?  Or are there any different per version of the PCB?  I know the current non-working is the older V1 PCB, my current one is a V4.  Just want to be sure I get the correct comm chip.

All the same. Use a pencil or other tool to pop it out be gently prying up on the ends, alternate ends until it is lose. When you get the new one you have to ensure the end with the 1/2 circle notch lines up with the poly line notch on the board, or you can take a picture before removing the comm chip and place the new chip in the proper orientation. The chips bend really easy (think aluminum foil). Just ask for a pixie16 comm chip.

add*** static electricity from a thunder storm can wipe out a comm chip.

Thanks JR.  I worked in the electronics industry for the majority of my life, everything from manufacturing on Assembly Lines, Electronic Tech, Assembly Line Management, Repair/Rework Specialist to Prototype Engineering, very familiar with electronic components.  I even have anti-static straps when I do any work on PCB's.  I NEVER work on any PCB without one!

I also have IC chip insertion and removal tools.

Ok so realized that I had everything hooked up correctly except I didn’t see the arrow for the data wire. Data flows one direction. So now I have them up and they are at least lit up.

now to watch videos on how to add my rgb show to my existing AC unit.
