brewmaster
I am preparing for our first Xmas season with a LOR setup. I have browsed the forums and read some LOR posts but I still lack exact clarity. Hoping folks here can confirm I can accomplish what I want before I start ordering. I found DMX controllable snow machines on Amazon like this one: https://www.amazon.com/CHAUVET-DJ-Snow-Machine-SM250/dp/B01KHQLTB0 The plan would be to buy a second USB dongle: https://store.lightorama.com/collections/computer-adapters-and-repeaters/products/usbrs485hs Hook that into the same machine running the current LOR shows. So have a parallel network. Then on that dongle, purchase this: https://store.lightorama.com/collections/computer-adapters-and-repeaters/products/rjtoxlr3fe With this setup, can I run both a LOR controllers for lights and this DMX snow machine in the same sequence? I want to confirm I don't need a DMX controller or some other special devices beyond what is listed here. Note - I have the advanced license and confirmed I paid for DMX support on the software side of things.
k6ccc
I've never dealt with a snow machine, or DMX on an RS-485 network, but I think you've got it. In Network configuration, you will need to define the DMX universe, and in the Preview Editor you will need to define that DMX universe and channel assignments to the Snow machine. and in the snow machine, you will need to assign the channel assignments. TheDucks
DMX and LOR can not be on the same network. You need another USB adapter
k6ccc
3rd paragraph of the original message states that he will buy an additional USB to RS-485 adapter...
