Hi all,

Is there any alternative way to conect my laptop to the CTB16PC  here in the uk? Its a big expense to get the rs485 adapter sent over so there must be something accessible here in the uk I can use.

I understand your frustration. What's happening is you need to convert from serial USB out of the laptop to an RS485 comm protocol. It requires an interface. LOR's interface works perfectly and is proprietary to LOR. If you know someone expert in electronics, you could design something but frankly, its easier and faster to just buy one from LOR

This might work. You will need to terminate the one end correctly so not sure you have a RJ45 crimp tool or if the cost would be the4 same as just getting the LOR version.

If you end up ordering one from LOR - buy a spare.
