CTB16PCG3 v5 Controller #2 Firmware Update dilema Using V 6.2.14 PRO

Hi,

Yes, it's that time of year again. I upgraded my Software to the latest edition. I have the following

Controller 1 -CTB16PCG3 v5 (NET1)

Controller 2-CTB16PCG3 v5 (NET 1)

Controller 3-Pixie 4 (NET 2 High speed)

Controller #4- Pixie 16 (NET 2 High speed)

MP3 Controller Powered via C1&2

with FM transmitter

The only problem I have is trying to update the firmware on Controller 2.

I have tried the following using the CP to start up the HW wizard.

The HW SW doesn't recognized the controller.

I tried to reset the controller to #1 by using the jumper to reset the unit. Via the manual. This didn't work. The controller #2 acts like the address has been burned into the controller.

I tried to force the HW wizard to unit 2 and the using the windows hardware mangler, er Manager to verify the COM Port address.

I even tried to network everything together with the same result.

The HW wizard doesn't recognize #2.

I can say updating C -1 to update took 3 or 4 attempts, C-2 no joy!

Any Ideas

HU and the Director should NOT be connected at the same time.

When things misbehave (using HU):

Did you install the LOR USB Driver BEFORE attaching the adapter? (a must)?

Only 1 controller on the cable during a FW update is a good practice.

Do not run the CAT5 alongside power cords for more than a couple of feet.

CTB16 do not have a termination jumper (last controller s/b termed). I made my own from a old CAT cable (we all break those tangs at sometime. Cut off the bad end and connect a 120 ohm resistor between the Blue - Blue-White)

Hi, Thank you for the idea. I did install the usb driver. I did get the firmware update to go with Controller 1.  I did segregate. I did not use the end of the line resistor (On No Devicenet flashback) I will try the end of the line. Thank You for the help!
