dmx pin placements and dmx channels

HEY  this is great when needed info is passed on Much Much faster than the so called help desk.  My question is First with the PIX con 16

which i am using as lor on a 24x50 tree cause its working great as the zig zag feature and I only use 1-8 But I am thinking of some dmx devices

Such as some gobo, Fogger and a projector so in the Lor in/out and dmx outputs the siler ethernet is config and dmx has 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Can I continue using 1-8 zig zag and use dmx 3, 4, 5 as the gobo. fogger and projection. It says in the manual that its possible but it also says that dmx 3,4,5 are disabled when in lor mode or e 1.31 also the pin placements is confusing with lor or esta   some say its optional  or is it easier to get another board if and when they ever arrive
