Light strand direction

Hi Everyone 

I have a few 4ft fake trees I put in the yard every year. They have 2 sets of 50 pixel lights on them. Normally I just do colour on them but I have been playing with some motion effects and don’t seem to get the correct look. Just wondering the best way to wrap a tree with lights. Spiral, up and over  or top to bottom until tree is full.

What I have done is use the prop definition in my preview to set it up. So for instance if they are 4 ft, you may be able to get 25 pixels in a fold up and over. You may also find you need more strands

So much more that you can do and better look with spiral strings (top to bottom) than straight up and down strings.

Amen to that.  Once I tried vertical and it looked terrible.  Been doing spiral since then.
