Michellelg
So I tried to connect the unit to an old laptop (that still works fine) so it'd be much more portable than moving my entire house around for this. I connected directly with the cat5, and I tried the usb adapter and no matter what I use it doesn't recognize a com port. I hooked it up to the desktop and it was just fine..so...What do I do? mlindell
Did you try using the auto configure feature in hardware utility.
mlindell
Also did you download the usb drivers for the laptop?
Michellelg
Yes to both. I fully installed the drivers, and tried auto configure. It searched all ports and I even manually selected them for the heck of it and it just couldn't communicate on the laptop.
cmoore60
Is the laptop recognizing the USB485 adapter when you plug in the usb cable? Do you get a comm port that shows up in device manager?Chuck
