Pixie 2s for mini RGB trees

I have several LED collapsing wire frame LED trees that the LED lights have croaked. 
 

I was thinking of taking some pixie2 100 string bullet pixels and converting these tree frames to pixel trees. 
 

my question is should I run the pixels up and down like a pixie 8 pixel tree kit, or should I wrap the pixie 2 lights in a circular pattern around the frames?

 

I know I'll only get 200 pixels per tree (they are about 5 feet tall and use 300 led bulbs originally).
