Max length of 3 wire data cable

Hello,

I am trying to figure out the max length of cable from any prop to pixie 16 controller without dropping data or losing voltage. I have used 20 feet before, but could I use 25 or 30 feet?

I understand that the LOR pixel controllers are quite tolerant of that sort of length, but do what most of us do and test it in practice. Then you will know for sure before you put them outside.

And test it longer than you will use.  For example, if you need 25 feet, test it at least 30 feet.  Reason is that if you test at 25 feet, what you wont know for example is that it fails at 25 feet 1 inch.  A few months later, parts values change a little when it gets colder or the parts age and now it fails at 24 feet 11 inches - and your show craps out.

And: Not all cables are the same. Use a heavier gauge (smaller number) the longer you go to avoid voltage drop. 12V runs are more tolerant than 5V but having both voltage  needs extra care (a different connector style saves smoke)
