Sequence with both PE and SuperStar

I would like to use the Pixel Editor for one portion of a sequence, and Super Star for another. I noticed that when writing the Intensity Data (.lid) file, Super Star and the Pixel Editor use different file names (.ss.lid and .pe.lid). Does the show player read both Intensity Data files? If so, how are they combined? If one is black and one is red, will the result be a red pixel?
