As you may have read on other forums, the 2008 version of these strings die when faded. I figured this out after killing about half of mine! (They'll be replaced for free in 2009.) I could only cobble together a pitifully weak display with the surviving strings. And, I'm not sure how many nights they will last. It's funny - this was my first year, and I was worried about a lot of things: Could I successfully build 4 LOR controllers? Could I write good sequences? Could I edit music and create voice-overs? Could I build a FM transmitter? Could I build a good looking mega tree? Could I design a good looking display? The answer to all those question turned out to be a resounding "YES!".The only thing I didn't worry about was the LED's, and that's the one thing that bit me in the butt! It's been a horribly frustrating (and expensive) experience.Oh, well. There's always 2009....I hope I get a chance to visit several NC LOR users' displays this season.
