default
Hey all, I figured out a way to create some additional effects for LOR Pixel Editor. It uses gif files. I had downloaded a bunch of gifs, and was experimenting when I figured out this way to do it. In short, you screen capture (video) the effect you want, save/convert it to a gif, then apply it to your prop in LOR Pixel Editor. The program I used for Video Screen Capture is AVS4YOU http://www.avs4you.com/ The Led Matrix Program I used is called Jinx http://www.live-leds.de/ I made a short video for a visual reference for people. Sorry in advance for the audio, my mic was not cooperating with me. The video explains how I create the effect, video screen capture it, save it to a gif file (sized for my prop), load in into Pixel Editor - save the intensity file and finally play it in Visualizer. Jinx is a very slick program for this and can do way more than I show here. It 8 channels you can mix, resize the 8 channels, etc... Give it a look, see if this is something to add to your sequencing toolbox. I also created 10 gifs using Jinx and put them on a page where you can download them to try on your props. http://greatgooglymoogly.info/LOR Pics/Web Stuff/gif_index.html Right click the gif, save as... Hope this has been helpful. Alan... Here is the Video.
MattBrown
I haven't gone through all of the steps, but it seems you can create a "Bitmap Export" device in Jinx; which should eliminate the need to use screen capture software. dougd
I was able to do a BMP output fairly easily. Then you just need a BMP to animated GIF converter.

Would you mind sharing how you accomplished that? I didn't see it in a quick look at the software. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
dougd
Goto setup, then output devices. Click add, device type is bitmap output. Pick a path and that should do it. click start output at the bottom of the setup button to output BMP's.

default
Wow, I just did the .bmp output, and within 3 seconds it saved 55 files at 3.5k, that's a 19 meg file for 3 seconds of effect. While that would work, it's a lot of work (and files) to deal with. If you don't have a video screen capture program you might look here under freeware. http://www.snapfiles.com/ In just a real quick search I found 2 programs that would do screen capture and save to gifs. I'm not endorsing these but there are easier ways than dealing with individual .bmp files. Long ago I used a file called SnagIt, it was freeware then but I think it's buy program now. Anyways have a look at these. http://www.snapfiles.com/screenshots/snapashot.htm http://www.snapfiles.com/get/captureview.html Alan...
dougd
When I did the bmp output, did about 10 seconds. Captured 333 files for a total of about 500 k. My bmp file size averaged 2k. When i converted to animated gif I did one BMP every 10th of a second.
default
Yep, my math was off. still, 333 files for 10 seconds of effect is a bit extreme to me. Whatever works for everybody.
