Who has their song list figured out for this year?  Any new songs?

Well, with this being my first year I guess all my songs are "new songs" for me at least.

However, I have added "Christmas Can Can" to the lineup because it is such a fun song! :)

While we are talking about playlist... How many songs does a typical show have?? I have 23 songs lined up, but I am thinking that might be to many??

George

I like the song but I don't know if the wife or the neighbors would let me get away with that one.  Although the neighbors did like the Bob Rivers Flu Ride a couple of years ago.

Nutrocker

Wizards in Winter

Jingle Bells

Santa Claus is coming to town

Do you hear

Christmas this year

I saw Mamma kissing Santa Claus

Last night I went out with Santa Claus

Carol of the Bells

Frozen Special night: Let it go, Do you wanna build a snowman, In Summer

I played 'who put the stump' for my wife and to my surprise she thought it was cute and I should sequence it! I want to do flue ride this year though, I like that one.

There is nothing like Bob Rivers to bring out the true meaning of Christmas.  Nice Video

I have been on a sequencing binge. So far I have:

Joy To The World - Brian Culbertson

Pretty Young Thing - Michael Jackson

Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

Black Or White - Michael Jackson

Suite From The Polar Express

Jingle Bells - Frank Sinatra

Uptown Funk - Bruno Mars

Originally I had not been thinking about pop songs being so viable from a choreography perspective but I have found that as long as I am careful about the amount of beat-driven flashes there are plenty of intricacies in the beats to make the show engaging.

Once you start sequencing it  gets very addictive and hard to stop.  Glad you are having fun

My favorite new song that we've added, is Let It Be Christmas, by Alan Jackson.

Agreed - I like the fact that the song is a country song but not too twangy - and the slow speed of the song allows you to hear just how beautiful of a voice Alan Jackson has.

I've actually completely programmed my entire display for 2016, with 12 songs.  My song list this year is a mixture of Christmas and non-Christmas songs:

  • Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas is You
  • Brian Setzer Orchestra - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
  • Idina Menzel - Let It Go (From Frozen)
  • Straight No Chaser - Christmas Can Can
  • James Darren - The Best is Yet to Come
  • Johnny Mathis - It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
  • Samuel Wright - Under the Sea (From The Little Mermaid)
  • Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Wizards in Winter
  • Pentatonix - Na Na Na
  • Sidewalk Prophets - Because It's Christmas
  • Alan Jackson - Let It Be Christmas
  • Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas in Sarajevo/24 (Carol of the Bells)*

* I plan to use the TSO Carol of the Bells every single year (it's the only song I plan to repeat every year) because I absolutely love it.

In addition to programming my 48-channel display (takes about 2 hours per minute of music), I also am doing a bunch of the programming for Deb's display (16 houses, over 850 channels) which take 8-9 hours per minute of music.  I agree with @Grinch - I love sequencing and I have stayed up waaaaaaaaaay too late on many an occasion!

I've also found some new stuff that I used this last Christmas season (2015) from the "Trans Harmonic Orchestra" that I like quite a bit.

I've got 30+ songs so too many to list here but this year, so far, I've added "Elements" by Lindsey Stirling. I'm thinking of a couple of others depending on holidaysequences then will sort out which I will use this year. Most likely I'll run most all of them as my idea is to insure anyone stopping by to watch, will just about be sure of never hearing the same song twice, except...lol, there's always an exception...the two Frozen songs as they are still extremely popular to the people/kids. Those will run more often.

Well, of the 22 songs I will be doing this year I have the first "5" sequenced. So far it's:

- Introduction

- 10 Second Countdown

- It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

- Jingle Bells

- Let It Go

(I feel like I'm really far behind.) However, I am committing to finishing at least 2 songs a week, so I should be done with plenty of time to spare! Then I have to start working on the Halloween show!
