Dennis Laff
Hi need a little help today I installed a USB-RS 485HS adapter I have three other ones working on line, heres the problem the computer assigned com port 17 to the adapter but the hardware utility only sees 1 thru 16 I uninstalled it but when I reinstall it always come back as com port 17 anybody have an idea how to solve? Dennis I have a 12 string ccr tree running 6 ccr's on 2 high speed networks, can I run 8 ccr's on each network instead of 6 without any problems? gsmith37064
Under Windows launch the device manager. Open up ports (com & LPT) See if anything bogus is listed. No working com ports are greyed out some and can be removed. I have never seen a machine run that many com ports and i ran a 16 port BBS years back. You could always remove everything and reboot. Windows should add back the working com ports.
