gsmith37064
I have a ton of DUMB RGB strips left over and about to get into pixels. But in the mean time can i run DUMB strips on a PixCon16 controller?
Jolanda
Pixcon16 design only for a smart ribbon. Dumb ribbon can go to cmb24d.
gsmith37064
That's what i was afraid of. I don't want to spend anymore on DUMB controllers seeing how i am looking at moving into pixels for the 2017 season.

Steven
HolidayCoro has these, which use DIP switches to set the DMX address. They used to sell ones like these or these, which are similar except they don't have the switches, so the addresses must be programmed via the DMX port. I use 6 of those in my display: 3 are in RGB floodlights, and 3 control RGB strips around 3 windows. I prefer the ones without the switches because they have less to go wrong if they get wet. I run these controllers in a network that is DMX plus 12V in a Cat5 cable. I don't use the same pin-outs that Holiday Coro uses, however, because pins 7 and 8 are supposed to both be DMX ground (and Holiday Coro puts +12v on pin 7). Pin 6 is what LOR uses for ground, so I put +12v on the remaining 3 pins: 3, 4, and 5. Basically, mine is like theirs except pins 4 and 7 are swapped.
