dragonzpneuma Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 This will probably sound like an odd issue, and will probably only be able to be answered by Matt: I have built a few pixel twig trees and created the mapping in PE with great success. Have tested the trees on my E682 and they play great from PE. I am able to use all the effects with it mapped as a custom model pixel tree. There is a special effect that I want to sequence that cannot be done with it mapped as a full pixel tree. It requires it to be mapped as a line/string of lights. I tried creating a second string prop for the trees assigning it the same universe number and pixels as the original mapping. When I use both props in PE, only one will work. I think it depends on which one starts in the sequence first. The other seems to get cancelled out. I guess my question is can this be done with PE? I know it has been done with NC so I'm sure it can be done with PE, just maybe not in this version. Any suggestions Matt? Thanks for your time!!!Keith
MattBrown Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 You are correct -- a channel can only be assigned to one prop. If you select Tools > Manage Previews from the menu, select the preview from the list, then click the "Info" button - duplicated channels will be listed in the warnings. Definitely a no-no. What kind of effect are you trying to achieve? Can you post a drawing or picture? Matt

In this video, the trees are mapped as a single string each. That is why I can do the chase that you see in it. But being mapped as a string, effects such as fire do not look right, so I would like to also map it as the actual tree shape. Hopefully the visual explains it a little better. Kind of a moot point if PE will never allow two props to one set of channels though. Thanks for your time Matt!!! Keith
MattBrown Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 So do you have one custom prop that covers all of the trees? I would suggest having a custom prop for each tree, and then creating a prop group with an arrangement setting of "horizontal stack" that contains all of the trees. That way, a fire effect on the prop group would show all of the trees burning, yet you can still apply effects to each individual tree. Great sequencing btw! Matt 1

MattI already have it set up that way Matt. That's how I did the curtain effect that you see at the start. But even using the fire effect for the prop group, it still doesn't show correctly if the individual trees are mapped as a string, and they have to be mapped as a string to achieve the chase that was my original goal. That is the effect you see starting at the 8 second mark of this video. I do see that my goal is unattainable here though. I will probably just map it as a full tree and do the best I can with some effect that looks similar to a chase. Thanks again for your time, and many thanks for the compliment. I hope to do a lot of good sequencing with PE this year. Still begging for more effects thought LOL. Take care Matt. Edited September 3, 2015 by dragonzpneuma
