greenie95125 Posted May 22, 2015 Share Posted May 22, 2015 OK, noob here when it comes to this e1.3 stuff, which is why I'm starting this in May. I've been running 6 LOR controllers with 4 CCR arches for a few years now, but decided to ramp it up a bit this year. I ordered what I THINK I need for a 12 strip tree to run with my current setup (Holidaycoro), but will not see that stuff 'till mid June. In the mean time, I'm trying to learn what I can now, so the curve isn't too steep later. I understand that in the LOR S3 sequencer you ned to go to the advanced network settings for DMX, click the e1.31 button and fill in the info for each universe. Each time I do this, it resets back to the default when I exit and come back to that setting. Is it because I don't have the adapter physically installed yet, or am I missing a step somewhere. If it's the former, then I guess I'll have to wait for the hardware to arrive. I'm sure I'll have more ??? when I dive in deeper. E1.31 is connected via a normal ethernet LAN. Let's look at a couple of screen captures. If you bring up the DMX tab of the network settings. click on a universe and you will see something like this. In this case I am setting up Universe 14. Click the box for "Use E 1.31". I am using unicast so I have to specify the destination IP address. 192.168.201.99 is one of my SanDevices E682 boards. The hardware I purchased is a E1.31 controller that will be connected to the lan of my show computer. The screens you posted are EXACTLY what I was talking about however. After I've done as you have, and I exit and restart the sequencer as the pop up says to do, all of the settings I changed are back to the original defaults {none} | Raw DMX. Cdanna77 Posted May 22, 2015 Share Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) I just tried this on my new laptop as above and I did not need to have anything connected. I am also using an 682. I just plugged in my IP Numbers (I'm also using Unicast)like the pics above when done hit OK and then closed re opened. No issues. So I'm not sure what you may be missing. Step 1 open LOR advance network prefStep 2 click on a universe you would like to set upStep 3 click use e1.31Step 4 A. If using multicast click multicast. Click ok. Step 4 B if using unicast click unicast. Enter IP Address Click ok. Step 5 once you are done adding the amount of universes you need click ok. Off to the right side. Step 6 when prompted click ok and close all LOR programs Step 7 re open advanced network pref to see if it saved. Hope this helps. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling LOR on the show computer with the same result. Then I installed LOR on another computer, and it worked as advertised. Strange. --Mike If you see that happening, there is a permissions issue with your Windows account/computer. We store all that information in the Windows Registry. Some versions of Windows and/or permissions settings do something called 'Registry Virtualization'. Basically the software tells Windows that we want to store these values in the Registry and Windows says 'Sure, no problem'. We write the values and windows says 'Got it, no errors'. But behind our backs it has silently discarded the requested changes. Certain 'Security' programs can also cause this type of issue. Here are some suggestions:Ensure the Windows account you are currently logged in with is an ADMINISTRATOR account. Completely disable any Security Suite you may have installed. Mcafee, Norton, whatever.... Turn OFF something called 'User Account Control' or 'UAC'. --> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/turn-user-account-control-on-off#1TC=windows-7 Right click the shortcut in the start menu that starts the Network Configuration program. This is what I did:1. uninstalled2. ran registry wipe3. ran regedit and manually deleted everything that was "light-o-rama" (registry wipe missed a lot)4. re-installed LOR and voila... working Just an FYI, that computer is running windows 7 and does not have any type of security suite on it since it's never online and used only for shows. LOR Staff Posted May 22, 2015 Share Posted May 22, 2015 #3 indicates that again there is/was a permissions problem. The same thing happened when running the wipe: We told Windows to delete the keys, Windows told us it deleted them but in reality it didn't.
