sonoma
Has anyone else noticed if some cat5 cables are not fast enough to transfer data to dmx boards?
k6ccc
Should not be an issue at all. DMX operates at a speed FAR slower than Cat-5 cable is designed for. Note however that the DMX spec does specify both network topoology (a single daisy chain), and terminators at the ends of the cable. Particularly if you have a complimented network, both of those can become an issue. Of course devices need to be wired correctly. This last point is particularly an issue where you are using standard DMX equipment together with LOR equipment (operating in DMX mode). The LOR standard uses different pins than the DMX standard so some adaptation in cable wiring is needed. Is this a general question or are you having a specific problem? If the latter, what problem are you having.?
