zing
When I worked in the bare PCB world (no components), we would use Isopropyl.
k6ccc
Yep, isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. Use in a well ventilated room, and no smoking! Make sure the card is thoroughly dried before energizing it. Boy could I tell you stories...
Mega Arch
Plastic safe, leaves no residue, non-flammable are all MUST characteristics of anything you put onto the boards. CRC Chemicals make a few contact cleaners you can look into using. For the most part, be very, very careful or cleaning it can be worse than doing nothing. zing
Q-tips work wonders as well, if the area you need to get into is tight. If you keep the cotton wet enough, then it typically won't "shed"
