Type of SD Card

I can't get the Show Director in my controller to play a show.  It keeps giving me an "error: no show on card".  I have tried 3 different SD cards and that has not made a difference.  In addition, I have tried to put the show on the card using the show editor, simple show editor and hardware utility.  None of them made a different.  I suspect the "type" of SD card I am using makes a difference.  The last card I used was a Class 4 SDHC 8gb card.  The others were basically the same.

 

What should I be using?

I forget exactly what name but in the manual I read online about the showtime mini director it said whoch cards were accepted

The section in the manual I found said Class 4 or better and 512 MB or better.  If you can find something else more specific, please let me know.  The cards I tried met both of those.

You can't use SanDisc.    LOR had me use Kingston brand.. that is what came with my MP3/g3 Director.  Others have use different brands and they have worked... just not SanDisk

 

I tied using the SanDisc to go back and forth with programs but it won't work.  LOR confirmed this issue and says the SanDisk is not to spec.. or something like that..

Did you ever have any luck.. I bought a used LOR1603MP3.. I ordered a connector but it won't be here for a week!  I can't tell what version of the firmware I have  (Lights chase 5 times!  docs only tell of 2,3,4)

 

tried all types of cards.. and older version of software.

I believe the 5 times chase is V4,00 or higher.  

 

Sandisk makes an excellent product, but for whatever reason, the Mp3 directors do not like them.   I know the firmware guys are stumped as to what the difference could be.

 

We recommend Kingston cards, 4GB class 4.  They always work with our directors and are good down to -20 degrees C.

 

You can try other cards, and they will probably work (except those mfg by Sandisk and re-branded).  Stay with Class 4 or better, class 2 or below cards are toooo slow.  Super high density cards (above 16GB) may or may not work, so we recommend 4 or 8.

I use Kingston Class 4 or 10 cards (4 GB, 8 GB) I even use a Lexar 512 MB card, I even use Staples SD cards. However all you can do is test out cards that are class 4 & up

I have a 16 02W MP3 controller that will ONLY work with Lexar 256 mb cards, 512 mb won't work, I just brought 4 GB card from LORI that doesn't work either. I can't write shows with the hardware utility, The simple show builder works perfectly though. I have two left and can't find any more anywhere

I use a Kingston Class 4 4GB, and a SanDisk Class 10 and both work.  The Kingston is slow when writing from simple show builder.  But if I use the Hardware Utility both write very quick.  What is different about the way they write the show to the card?

That is going to be 2 different things.

 

The Hardware Utility/Simple Show Builder do not care what size card you use.  If Windows can use it, the software can use it.  What version of the software are you using?

 

The 1602WMP3 probably needs to have its firmware updated.  I know that all our directors will use the recommended cards (Kingston 4GB C4) without issue on newer firmware.  Please consult the documentation on how to update it.

Here is an issue I saw a few days ago that wasn't there in 2013. If I set the internal clock to start at 6:00 pm & go off at 10:00  I was simply putting the card in a 6:05 pm. Last year when I was going to leave the house for a few hours & I stuck the sd card in it the unit in 2013 said wait & would not start until it hit 6:00 pm. This year the show just starts & the word wait doesn't appear it simply plays before the start time. So I had not show for most of Christmas night. So I am going to go back to the firmware that I used in 2013 to see if that helps. Then test it out & see if that is the issue.

Yes to your question. I do have the gen 3 director unit. Anyhow I just did some tests & I went back to firmware 5.26 stuck in the sd card & it said unit, & then it said wait & nothing ran like it should, then I downloaded 5.28, & it said unit & then the show ran right away. I put 5.26 in it again & then the sd card & then it said wait & nothing ran like it should.  I don't set the show times on the sd card. I only set the time to start & end on the unit itself. 

 

I will leave it on 5.26 for the rest of the season.

I use PNY 4Gb cards and have never had a problem with the Showtime or Mini Directors.
