CK57 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 There are multiple types of silicon available. Which one is preferred for waterproofing over soldered connections with RGB Strip? Last year I had some green oxidation at my solder joints where I had applied a silicon, but evidently it was not the correct one. 3M makes several, which is best?
kiplorenzo Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I use a hot glue gun... Helps to hold the wires in place and seals it all up.
Ron Boyd Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 GE Silicon II: http://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-II-Window-and-Door-9-8-oz-Clear-Caulk-GE5000-24C/100026175
Max-Paul Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) I found it over in the plexiglass area, back by the doors and windows at my local Home Depot. Ya know you got the right stuff when it does not burn your nose or eyes. Dont smell like a babies pee soak diaper. I kind of think of a slightly off smelling peanut butter. Edit: What I have is the little 2.8 oz squeeze tube. Cost just under 6 bucks and if you dont need alot, that caulking tube is going to be a big waste. Your looking for the GE-57 tube and it is white text on red background. Edited March 27, 2014 by Max-Paul
