jim st john Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 This is an issue that I had last year, and finally just avoided it by going to another computer. This year though I *really* need the LOR software installed on another machine. When I try, I get :Copying files, please stand by. Processing hhctrl.ocx (4 of 4). Then in another popup:"Setup cannot continue because some system fileds are out of date on your system. Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you now. You will need to restart......."I click OK, reboot, repeat the install, same error message, over and over.I am running an Intel core 2 CPU, Windows XP Pro.Any help much appreciated-jim-
dslowik Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 You need to close everything before you install. That installer doesn't like it when some applications are still running. By everything, I mean everything you can including antivirus.
jim st john Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 Closing everything did not help. I found a method for deleting the hhctrl.ocx file, and after I did that the install went ok. If someone has a similar problem this is what I found:It is not easy to remove Hhctrl.ocx because it is considered to be a system component. To remove your current version of Hhctrl.ocx and install another version, type the following from the command line:cd %windir%system (win95) or cd %windir%system32 (NT4)regsvr32 -u hhctrl.ocxdel hhctrl.ocxdel itss.dlldel itircl.dll-jim-
