craigecooper Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 DIY 20amp x 2 ... 16 channel controller working great. Only one unknown at this point. Should the ground leads be attached to the heat sinks of just a common post in the plastic box ? or... does it even matter when using a plastic box ?
Max-Paul Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Minimum I would not worry about a ground wire. At Most, go on and connect to one of the screws that mount the heat sink in the plastic box. Really though I take the power down before going into the box it to do any work. Will leave the power up only to check the status of the LED.
-klb- Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 If your mouting hardware goes thorugh the box, I would suggest grounding the heat sinks. As long as your mounting hardware does not penetrate the plastic, you can do like the standard kit, which uses the strain relief bracket as a tie point to tie all the grounds together, or rather, use any fixed position within the case as a tie point.
