Max-Paul Posted November 7, 2012 Share Posted November 7, 2012 Best thing to do is to use side cutters to cut the three leads below the body of the triac. Then use needle nose pliers to grab the cut lead with the board componets down. From the solder side apply the soldering iron to the solder joint. When you see the solder melt start to gently wiggling the cut lead and pull down gently. Repeat for the other two leads. I prefer to use a solder sucker some like to use the solder wick. Solder sucker you want to cock it and hold at about 45 degree angle next to the solder pad. Heat the solder pad with the iron again. When you see the solder melt, trip the sucker. With the wick, put clean wick over the solder pad and apply the iron to the wick. When the wick has filled with solder, move the wick so you have clean wick over the hole again. When no more solder is wicked up into the wick remove both iron and wick. Repeat as needed. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
