nmonkman Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 My old computer had a serial port that I was using, but the new one I have does not have a serial port. So I will need to get a USB to CAT5 adapter. Can anyone recommend one that is fairly reliable and/or works well with LOR.I bought one a long time ago and I think it is around somewhere, but it seems I remember it was a nightmare getting it to work. Thanks,
LOR Staff Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 I don't think you want a USB to CAT-5 adapter. What you want is a USB to RS485 adapter that has an RJ45 connector. We recommend this one :http://store.lightor...com/uscoad.htmlOr, if you are going to need to use some of our powered products downstream (like ELLs), this one:http://store.lightor...coadwivobo.html(ninjaed by Don!) 1

nmonkman Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 Yes, that is the correct terminology. I was hesitant to say "The little black thing-a-magiggy that goes in one of the square things and then hooks to that yellow cord that looks like a phone line but is supposed to be used for a cat named five.........." LOLActually forgot that LOR had one. I bought a cheapy which probably explains the nightmares
Santas Helper Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Other brand USB stuff wont work with LOR. It has to be LOR for it to work right.
