Weenie

Walt Disney once said that to make something great, you need a weenie. Basically, it's that something extra. I've got a basic framework for Halloween this year, eyes and orange lights in the bushes, purple lights along the roof. But I want to do a visual/motor prop, and have recently found linear actuators aren't going to happen this year. That being said, I will have the motion detector and switch board. Any suggestions?

How about a Flying Crank Ghost

Are you calling a Flying Crank Ghost a weenie?

LOL, well played.

I'm not sure how I could mount a flying crank ghost. I have a motor from one of those reindeer w/ the moving head I might canibalize, but I don't see how to mount it w/o drilling into the deck roof/ceiling.

Make a frame out of 2 x 4 wood and paint it black. Then stretch spider web over it to cover up a bit. Maybe even camo netting too.

Every time I start wondering if maybe I seen every question there is, one comes along to restore my faith.

I should add the disclaimer that I've never personally mounted a flying crank ghost, nor do I know anyone who has for-certain mounted one either. (I could think of one possible exception, but I believe the ghost wasn't flying when the mounting occurred.) But the first thing I'd suggest is for you to try to find one to mount that's not a crank. A more pleasant disposition will help a great deal. Or failing that, at least try to get it to stop flying first so there's less chance of you falling and hurting yourself.

Good luck. Stay safe. Please keep us posted. Enquiring minds want to know.

I thought George was saying something different at first. Then the gears started to turn. ;)

Other than weenie ghosts, any other ideas? I'd be up for using an AC version of a wiper motor, but I can't find an equivalent.

Warning points coming my way.

I think you need some kind of "rack" to hold the motion detector and switch board.

How about a "rack" to hold that weenie ghost.

I can't help it if I got fat fingers. I meant to say roast, not ghost.

And the edit button dissapeared before I could correct it. B)
