johnson8ryley
I think this is my 4th or 5th post about my possible DIY DMX setup that I might be doing this year but this is my last shot as the Summer Sale has arrived and I'm tempted to buy CCR's. I've attached a picture I made with how I believe I can achieve my setup. With all the wire conversions going on, I'm not sure this is possible but I'll give it a go and see what you guys think.DMX Adapter: http://www.enttec.co...name=opendmxusb5 Pin XLR to cat 5: http://www.bulbtroni...CookieSupport=1Cat 5 to 3 pin female xlr: http://www.bulbtroni...leProductSearchStrip + Controller: http://www.aliexpres...holesalers.htmlPower Supply: http://www.aliexpres..._340442205.html3 pin xlr male to female: http://kexane.com/p/...05PWXRSH99.html
spomalley
It should work fine, the conversions should not cause you a problem.
johnson8ryley
There's no certain specification or feature need for the adapters to work? I'm glad to hear that. What about programming? The strip has the same amount of pixels as the CCR. Would programming be a carbon copy of programming for a cosmic color ribbon?
spomalley
The programming is much the same as programming a CCR except without macros. As regards certain specification or features, to run an enttec dongle you must have the advanced licence, because you are running an enttec you will not need a LOR->DMX Crossover Cable (Required when running a LOR dongle in DMX.). johnson8ryley
Thankfully I do have an advanced license. I have yet to really look into programming RGB strips but isn't macro the term for used for controlling every individual pixel?
Ponddude
Seasonal Entertainment has all the adapters you need, and cheaper!
zanclus
I need a 5pin dmx to rj45 adaptet for my entec open, but seasonal entertainment is charging the same for shipping as it is for the adapter Is there anywhere else to find one that wont cost an arm and leg to ship? I don't understand why such a small light item would cost so much to ship....

Tim Fischer
Can i just open the Enttec . drill and hole in the casing run an cat5 cable into it and soldier t to the correct pins on the 5 pin connectorSure you could, but that's pretty brute-force. Why not just make your own adapter? http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-pin-FEMALE-XLR-Plug-Black-connector-DMX-intercom-headset-/330680870015?pt=US_Cables_Snakes_Interconnects&hash=item4cfe1da47f
