Multiple dongle problem

Ok guys,

Am I missing something?

Having issues getting more than one DMX dongle setup in LOR. I have a USB485b
and one Lynx dongle currently setup and running with no problems.

I got a second Lynx dongle and installed it on my pc and have it attached as well. I
go to the device manager and all 3 are listed.(see attached picture)

My LOR usb485b is comm 4, first lynx is comm 2, second lynx is comm 5.

Start SE to set network preferences and do not see my second lynx listed in dmx only
the first one in the drop down menu.
I know the second dongle works because I verified it with X lights and it worked
just fine.

What am I missing?

No direct experience with lynx adapters.. but used many USB485's and Enttec's this year.

if you remove the first Lynx then restart SE does the second appear in the drop down?

if you de-select the USB485 from the LOR network drop down, can you select it in the DMX drop downs?

just some things to start trying..

Pondude and heystew,

My first dongle is listed but that's it on the dmx side. I even tried moving my usb485 0ver to dmx and that did not show up either. I did remove it from the lor network and
restarted the SE and the usb485 did not show up. I did not try only connecting the second.
Will continue tomorrow.

A new affliction George......"Dongle envy"! :P

Ed,

Plug in all your adapters and than restart. Let the computer find them again on a restart. See if that helps.

If an adapter is in use, it won't be listed in the DMX dropdowns on Network Preferences unless you've previously put it there. Are you sure it's not in use by anything?

Bob,

I don't think so but I will have to check and I will do a restart and try that too.

Thanks guys!

I'll let you know how it goes.

OK here is the latest.

Restarted computer and did not make a difference. Second dongle did not show up in SE dmx network preferences.

Unistalled both usb serial ports. Plugged in one at a time. PC found new hardware
and installed and assigned them both ports, my first dongle moved to comm 9 from
comm 2 but reinstalled second dongle back to comm 5.

Verified both dmx dongles working with X lights, both work good.

Opened SE and run sequence and first dongle worked but it was still the only one
listed in the drop down menu.

So I removed the usb 485b from the LOR network and closed the SE, restarted and
it does not show up in the dmx either. See picture.

OK really stumped!

click that box, near the bottom, that says "List Networks in Channel Configuration" and see what happens when you click OK.

Now I got another error message in SE when I was trying to close the sequence.

What's this mean?

I would do a windows update, I think something could be out of date.

This one is for Bob. I am dropping out...lol

I would send Bob a PM and have him help you. He is excellent at responding to them and I am sure can get this fixed.

Ok just wanted to update the dongle issue. Not sure why they would not work

before but I have resolved the issue. Both dongles are working and outputting

DMX like they are supposed to. The only thing I can figure is I corrupted a file somewhere

and most likely in the Directx function. I tried rolling back the directx and then reinstalling

it. Tried everything possible but could not resolve the issue so the best thing I could do

was wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything. PC working well as is LOR and

the two Lynx dongles. Have had this laptop for over four years and have had a lot of

things installed and deleted so it was probably a good thing to get rid of everything

and start over.

Thanks to all for the help and it's on to starting the 2012 show layout.

HAPPY SEQUENCING!!!

Ed
