How to store Christmas lights?

Here's one thing I am never good at. How does everyone rap and store there lights? It seems like its hard to untangle them every year

For single strings, look up how to store them as a ball.

Basically, take the female end of the string in your hand, and wrap the lights around your fingers 6 to 10 times. Now slide this off your fingers, and hold the bundle. Start wrapping the lights around this bundle. As the bundle gets closer to round, start wrapping in random directions, like you are building a ball of rubber bands.

Now put these in a storage tote.

klb hit it right. for the longer strands I use spools.

if you ll go to your local home improvement warehouse thay throw away spools that wire comes on or cable in the hardware dept thay will be glad you took it off their hands

I unfortunatly am too impatient for wrapping them in balls, tried it one year and it worked great but.. I put each strand in a walmart bag then put all the bags in totes or boxes.

I store mine in totes.
75% of mine are LEDs so I don't worry about breaking them.
