You need to stay abreast to the current regulations contained within your Homeowners Association By-Laws.
Some will specifically address seasonal / special decorating events and durations allowed.

Say you turned on your Christmas lights "early", they may sight you for pre-electricification. On the other hand, should your display remain up 4 days beyond the take-down date, then you may need to seek legal attention.

I thought if it stayed up more than 4 hours you needed to seek medical attention. OH, wait, what are we talking about?
