This is my design I have used for the last couple of year. My pole from ground to top is about 30 feet. I only have 60 strings on it but it can handle much more. The pic on right is the top of tree and on left is the part that goes up and sort of fits into the top.

if your mega tree don't work you could sell that to the circus to hoist the big top, impressive

Not that I need a 30 footer but I would love to see a "How To" for this one.

Or at least some close up pics.

For those of us not as mechanically gifted as most of you, can any of this be purchased pre-made? I am impressed with what you guys have done but am counting the number of appendages I would lose attempting such feats.

I was thinking of using 4 small steel plates, 3 of them welded together and the other bolted on so that I can remove it later if needed. For rollers I am thinking of using rollers that sit on a plate like they use on a conveyor system http://bearingstore-shop.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/roller-ball-bearing2.jpg Heavy duty system that I think will roll easily with no hangs. Overkill yeah but thats what it all about. Will post pics when I attempt to build which will be a couple weeks.

I have a 20 foot tree that I have used for the last 2 years, and it works flawlessly. The pipe is 4 inch aluminum conduit with a cable going up the inside of the pipe, pulling 2 cables that feed out the top via a shiv (pully) on each side of the pipe that pulls up ring with the hooks welded to the ring. I use a wench on the bottom to pull the cable what is tied to the two cables. I place the pole in the receiver in the front yard, attach the lights and hoist the ring up.. Up goes my tree, if i have a string or two that fails, I can lower it and fix it. I also have my star treaded onto the top cap which is attached before we lift the pipe. Here is some pics. BTW - this is my own design - not copied from any other display - but your free to use it. Ask any questions you would like.

The piece of Channel is 6inch length of 6 inch channel.

Floor flange bolted to the bottom for attaching to the mast. Floor flange on top with reducing bushings for the 3-D star to thead into. One of my 4 guy wires has the 3 channels of SPT wire tied to it for the star. If more interest I have other photos of the shuttle and such.

Update on my 30ft Megatree Lightpole: Finished digging the 6ft x 24" hole yesterday with the 3' x 3' pad on top. Will be pouring around 1 1/2 tons of concrete this Saturday! Pics to follow maybe tonight...
