Basic DMX Setup?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Ok Guys so I've been doing some reading and though I'm still scratching my head on how to do the DMX Programming in the software i was trying to get a handle on the layout. I did up this real rough diagram to see if I was on the right track...

Does this seem correct.???

I'll elaborate on this as time goes on here and in this thread but, for now I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track?

Cheers
Evan

Good evening Evan

check my site for downloads of presentation on dmx

it has some diagrams of lor network and dmx network

there is also a slide that shows a small sample of dmx programming

http://mysite.ncnetwork.net/resrqteh/index.html

email bottom of first page if you have questions

download page has lor/dmx presentation material

there are two spreadsheets available for lor idmx addressing

there are two modes native and legacy

here is a sketch from the presentation

Frank,

Excellent description of how to use the iDMX. One small recommendation. For those just starting, they will want to use non-legacy addresses for the iDMX. Thus in the example if the iDMX had a unit ID of 11 then the DMX devices would have had base IDs of 11.01 and 11.49 which is less confusing than the Legacy Mode addressing scheme in the diagram.

Good morning Dan

thanks for the response

I agree ---- native mode addressing is the way to go ----

I am set up using Legacy mode ---- have not decided to

change to native with our setup because of the labeling

and documentation for our setup would have to be redone

probably a good project for summer of 2011.

By any chance did you download either spreadsheet and try it

curious about your thoughts about how useful a tool they are

Hi Frank,

I have not done so... PM me the info and I will take a look at them.
