I must be doing something wrong then. When I try to play a .wav at 1/2 speed I get a warning that media player does not support this type file.

I'm using Media Player 11 on XP. All help appreciated.

LOR is actually asking Windows Media Player whether it can support speed control for this particular file; WMP is saying "no".

Why it says no for you, or your computer, or this file, while it says "yes" for other WAV files, or other people, or other computers, I unfortunately cannot say; WMP's internal decision making process is a mysterious black box.

However, that message you get, which says WMP can't do it for this file, should also offer to make a temporary copy of the file, in a different format, that WMP should be able to control the speed of. Have you tried telling it to do so?
