dstevens
Audacity is pretty much the standard around here. I have used it to shorten songs when needed. They end up sounding very good - you can't notice where they've been cut. Here's the link to Audacity.http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
iresq
+1 for audacity. You will also need to download the lame encoder.
stanward
What's the "encoder?"
-klb-
The encoders are just the plug in tools that save files in different formats.. Saving in Audacity only saves in an audacity native format. To get a .wav, or .mp3 you have to export the audio.. Because of some open source issues, at least historically, the .mp3 encoder could not be packaged with Audacity itself... I wonder if the .mp3 enccoder got its name because that is what someone thought of the requirement to keep it separate... - Kevin
George Simmons
I'll also add my vote for Audacity. Short of professional editors, it's the best thing I've seen.George
minnesota bob
I have been using wavepad. It worked great for me last year as a freeware so I purchased it this year. Once I bought it I had nothing but trouble and they do not support it at all unless you pay extra for it. Really a great racket. They write code that doesn't work right and then they charge you to fix it. If you can get it to work, it works great and is fairly easy to use.
