Software upgrade.

Hi am running 6.1 and my shows are working great except for a couple of ribbons. I just purchased a sequence The greatest Show RGB plus from Light O Rama website and there are many more I want to get. When I click on download it tells me that I need to upgrade to 6.2 for the sequence to work. I also read that if your show is working fine don’t upgrade until the season is over. Wish  I had seen or know this before or I would have not purchased the sequence. I am worried if I upgrade it might mess up my schedule show and sequences. Now I have no idea what to do?

I can't tell you to upgrade, you will have to decide that, but I can tell you that most of the changes since 6.1.0 are fixes and improvements. Nothing fundamental has changed and in all likelihood you will not see a problem. There is no change to sequence structure and the Control panel keeps getting improvements.  I always update as soon as a release happens and rarely do I find a showstopper or reason to go back to the previous version, but it has happened. The key is to be completely backed up just in case. Backup the ENTIRE light o rama folder and ALL of the subfolders. This will get your sequences, previews, in commondata, audio, imports and exports and more.

Update if you wish, then test a sequence or two and run a test show and see how it goes. If you find a problem. Uninstall the new version and reinstall the original. I have NEVER had an upgrade or downgrade affect my files, but you never know. And that's why we preach backup.
