Text Reveal Problem in 6.2.10

I am using Motion Effect Generator, Text PE effect, to create a left to right reveal of italicized text, to simulate handwriting. There are separate effects for "Merry" on the upper line and "Christmas" on the lower line, so they can reveal serially. It worked fine in 6.1.x and earlier, but in 6.2.10 it briefly flashes the entire word at the beginning of the effect before going black then revealing the word, as desired.  Does the generator work differently now, so that I need to make some adjustment? Or is this a bug in 6.2.10?

I've been able to work around the problem with a brief fade up at the beginning, but I'd rather it work like it used to. Attached screenshot shows how I have the effect set up.

Thanks for the detailed description. That is a bug! We are able to reproduce it, and we will have it fixed in the next release.
