jcc31 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Hi all, it is safe to say that a RJ45 patch cable is the same as RS45 cable? Or will I need to make some custom RS45 cables? If I do make some RS45 does anybody have a wire diagram for both ends? It looks to me the RS45 is pretty straightforward and straight thorough. Pin. ColorWire>>>>Pin. ColorWire 1 SO 1 SO 2 O 2 O 3 SG 3 SG 4 G 4 G 5 SB 5 SB 6 B 6 B 7 SBr 7 SBr 8 Br 8 Br
Don Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Just use regular network cables. DMX/E1.31 aside, this isn't Networking, but it does use the same cable.

You want EIA 568B (same as Ethernet) For us pins 4 - 5 is the most important, the pair 3-6 is used for Auxiliary powered device. The same plug is used for different services. The PAIRING varies. Pairs reduce cross talk. A standard RJ cable tester will validate the cables against X-over pairs

You are correct, but ready made patch cables seem to all be 568B. Nothing worse than replacing a broken end to find it was the other
