Adding Content to Existing Sequences

I've got a strange issue I ran into when trying to add effects to an existing sequence.  If I go to a particular place in the sequence and delete a sectioñ, it throws off the timing for the resting of that effects channel.  The rest of the channel doesn't move to the left to fill in that section so I can't figure out what's happening.  I did run a test where I just highlighted 40 cells and "cleared" them and the timing changed for the rest of the channel.  It doesn't make sense.

I found a work-around.  I just added another motion effect channel and added the new effect on it which overrides the previous effect.
