Box on Rails Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) So my friend has moved to some new controller system with X lights and no longer need his AlphaPix 16 v3. controllers. these are the whole package deal with enclosure. My question is how do I plug these into my all LOR networks? Am I going to need an E1.31 dongle/adapter or will I be able to plug into my computer's Ethernet plug? this is my first venture into Non LOR equipment so any info would be appreciated. k6ccc Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 The AlphaPix controllers are E1.31 based controllers. They connect to your computer LAN connection (generally by way of a switch).
Mr. P Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) Since you have two you will need a cheap switch to run them off of, you can't daisychain E1.31 except for certain controllers. Edited December 9, 2021 by Mr. P 1
Lightnewbie Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Is the pixie link scan adapter what you mean by a switch ?

You can go to almost any place that sells Computers and buy a (Ethernet) Switch You can only get PixLink from LOR (or their VARS) It is more of a Bridge (E1.31 -> RS485) device
Box on Rails Posted January 2, 2022 Author Posted January 2, 2022 I made a decision to change out the AlfaPix boards to LOR Pixie 16 boards. Thanks for the info friends.
