TheDucks
Its a CTB16 The T is for Triac (common in AC dimmer) Did you install the drivers BEFORE attaching the USB adapter? (If needed: Disconnect, install proper drivers, Then connect) DO NOT connect to any Ethernet switch or port. Does Hardware Utility (HU) find the adapter? (that also says Com Listener is running. Exit LOR and launch HU from the Start menu) Maybe you are looking for the wrong COM#. Is the another choice (pull down). Your PC may have a built in Modem or Serial port.
k6ccc
Start the Windows Device Manager. Expand the section on Ports. When you unplug or plug in the USB to RS-485 adapter, you should see a comm port come and go. That is the correct comm port number. Also, in the Hardware Utility, near the upper right corner is a setting for max unit ID to scan for. Make sure that is set high enough so that it scans for your controller ID. Granted that if this is a new controller, it should be ID 01, but if this is a previously used controller, it could be a higher number.
