MSB
I have all of the sequences from s4 converted to s5 for the show this year. None of the imported sequences included the Mega Tree sequences as I did all of those using Superstar and exported as intensity files and imported them into a "merged" sequence. I did not try importing any of the merged sequences. Looking at S5, I thought I would try recreating the preview definition in S5 and then using the insert motion effects from superstar to get the sequences in cleaner. I'm just having a problem creating the preview. It's basically a 360 degree tree 24 x 100 Tree with an 8 row globe tree topper. In the old visualizer I stacked 2-24 columns of 50 pixel CCRS with channel 1 on the bottoms of each stack. So the MT-Tree Top has 24 columns, and MT-Tree Bot has 24 columns. The column numbers are identical. I use 3 pixicon 16 controllers to control the 48 ribbons. and two legacy controllers to control the tree topper. This is the channel config: Fixture Frame Amps Total Lights Conroller ID DMX ID Channel Circuits 01 Top Sphere CCP 50 Aux-A Unit 01 Com 4 1-50 02 TopMid Sphere CCP 50 Aux-A Unit 02 Com 4 1-50 03 BotMid Sphere CCP 50 Aux-A Unit 03 Com 4 1-50 04 Bot Sphere CCP 50 Aux-A Unit 04 Com 4 1-50 MT1 Top Ribbon 01 150 Aux-B Unit 05 Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 02 150 Aux-B Unit 06 Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 03 150 Aux-B Unit 07 Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 04 150 Aux-B Unit 08 Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 05 150 Aux-B Unit 09 Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 06 150 Aux-B Unit 0A Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 07 150 Aux-B Unit 0B Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 08 150 Aux-B Unit 0C Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 09 150 Aux-B Unit 0D Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 10 150 Aux-B Unit 0E Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 11 150 Aux-B Unit 0F Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 12 150 Aux-B Unit 10 Com 5 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 13 150 Aux-C Unit 11 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 14 150 Aux-C Unit 12 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 15 150 Aux-C Unit 13 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 16 150 Aux-C Unit 14 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 17 150 Aux-C Unit 15 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 18 150 Aux-C Unit 16 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 19 150 Aux-C Unit 17 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 20 150 Aux-C Unit 18 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 21 150 Aux-C Unit 19 Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 22 150 Aux-C Unit 1A Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 23 150 Aux-C Unit 1B Com 6 1-150 MT1 Top Ribbon 24 150 Aux-C Unit 1C Com 6 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 01 150 Aux-D Unit 1D Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 02 150 Aux-D Unit 1E Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 03 150 Aux-D Unit 1F Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 04 150 Aux-D Unit 20 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 05 150 Aux-D Unit 21 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 06 150 Aux-D Unit 22 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 07 150 Aux-D Unit 23 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 08 150 Aux-D Unit 24 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 09 150 Aux-D Unit 25 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 10 150 Aux-D Unit 26 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 11 150 Aux-D Unit 27 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 12 150 Aux-D Unit 28 Com 7 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 13 150 Aux-E Unit 29 Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 14 150 Aux-E Unit 2A Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 15 150 Aux-E Unit 2B Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 16 150 Aux-E Unit 2C Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 17 150 Aux-E Unit 2D Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 18 150 Aux-E Unit 2E Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 19 150 Aux-E Unit 2F Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 20 150 Aux-E Unit 30 Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 21 150 Aux-E Unit 31 Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 22 150 Aux-E Unit 32 Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 23 150 Aux-E Unit 33 Com 8 1-150 MT2 Bot Ribbon 24 150 Aux-E Unit 34 Com 8 1-150 I imported the Superstar Prop 24 x 50 with 8 row globe into a separate preview. I modified Globe Back to use Aux A with ID's 1-4. All good. I modified 24 x 50 Tree Back and set column 1 unit ID from reg to Aux B and the first ribbon Unit ID to 5. The prop definition changed all of the unit ID's accordingly and matches the above for the 1st 24 ribbons. However, I 'm unable to change the Network on Ribbon 13 from Aux B to Aux C. I also don't know how to add the bottom 24 ribbons and looking for help. Greg
BrianBruderer
In S4 did you stretch the sequences to be 100 pixels on the tree?
MSB
No I typoed the topic and can't change it. The channel configuration is correct. 150 channels per new version CCR stacked on top of each other for 300 total per column.
BrianBruderer
I did the following: Went into Preview design Clicked "Add Item" Selected "Tree 360 Wedges" Actual # of Strings: 24 Exact # of RGB Nodes Per String: 50 # of Folds in each String: 0 Truncate Cone %: 50 For the channels, select "Enter a channel on every row" then you should be able to assign the Network for each row however you want. I named the prop "24x50 bottom" After adding the prop I did the same thing and added a prop named "24x50" top" I used the same parameters except I set "Truncate Cone%" to 0 I made a group named "tree" and put the two props in it and selected "vertical stack" for the arrangement. When I went into superstar the grid appeared with the two trees on top of each other. You should be able to do the same thing except add the globe to the group and it should appear above the tree. MSB
I must be doing something wrong. I built the preview but the bottom 24 columns are on the top, the ball is in the middle, and the 24 top columns are on the bottom. How do I change the order in the vertical stack? Also, what are the dummy rows for in the pre-made prop for a 24 channel 360 tree with globe? Edited September 23, 2020 by MSB
BrianBruderer
You should have a group that contains all the props in the tree. In Preview design, double click on the group and select the items you want in the group. To change the order, highlight an item and use the up/down arrows to move the highlighted item. In the standard tree with globe prop that my sequences are made for, there are 5 dummy rows at the top and 5 dummy rows at the bottom. If you use my sequences and do not have the dummy rows then you will need to use the "move or scale selected effects" feature to move the sequencing down 5 rows. MSB
OK, I think I may have the preview correct. In the sequencing grid it have the motion effect row for the mega tree and globe. I select the row and right click insert superstar effect. A warning pops up, "One or more groups in the Preview are 360 degree props. Import in wrap around mode. I choose Yes Superstar does not open up and I get the message No Data Received from Superstar OK

MSB
14 minutes ago, sysco said: TELL us what steps you took in figuring it out have been following thread thank you I'm away from my pc camping at the moment but I will try from memory. I didn't exactly do Brian's steps. I created a new preview and started with the 24 column tree with 8 row globe. Renamed to MT1 Globe and MT1 TOP. I added a new 360 wedge tree called MT1 BOT doing the truncation at 50%. Aligned all 3 props in the center and gradually moved the tilt to line up with the imported tree. I was able to reassign all the channels and networks (most time consuming part) to match our channel config. Sorry S4 jargon. I left the dummy rows in because I also used the same amount of top and bottom blank rows in my S4 visualizer. Also in my case I used the same CCW setup but my starting column 1 is on the left so I changed all 3 sections accordingly. My mistake was in creating the group and the motion control row. I did not have the vertical stack arranged from bottom to top. I had it arranged from the top down. Too logical I guess. I created a group called MT1 Tree and Globe. I put the MT1 Dummy Bot on top. Next MT1 Bot, Next MT1 Top, Next MT1 Globe, then MT1 Dummy Top. Last I exported the preview as Stage 03 MT1 2020. And then imported this stage into my master preview. I opened a sequence from last year. Saved it for this year. Navigated to my motion control row for MT1 Tree and Globe. Selected the entire row and right clicked to insert superstar effect. Superstar opened up and I opened the mega tree superstar sequence for this song from last year. And closed superstar. The entire mega tree sequence came in and played perfectly in my master preview. Without further modification. Whew, I hope I didn't miss anything. But my beer is getting warm now. Let me know if that helped! Greg
