It is highly recommended to have a few extra just in case. Forget about the black ones as the red ones are only $2 more and work on all LOR networks. However, I still use the black ones for my OLDER V2 CTB16PC Controllers and only use the RED HS Adapter for my RGB Lights or High Speed G3{G4?} Controllers of which I don't have any G3{4} CTB16 controllers as yet.
