Not intuitive

Hello everyone.  Looking to get S5 but can't seem to figure out WHAT to purchase.  LOR Helpdesk didn't actually answer this question (twice) so I'm turning here...

When I do the license check I get this message:  Your license does not cover the latest version, 5.1.*. To use this version, you will have to purchase a license renewal.

Soooo... when I click on the license renewal button it gives me a $29 version of S4. How do I get S5 and is there a discount for it since it's a license renewal?  Am I just buying S5 full price?  Honestly don't care what the answer is, I just want to select the right product/version.

Thanks in advance for any help!

It's still a renewal, still at the same link.

They just haven't gotten all of the S4 references updated. Will take them a while. It did for S2, S3 and S4.

Thanks Don.  I'm not concerned with verbiage on the site and I'm sure this is frustrating but...

http://store.lightorama.com/s2soup.html this actually shows options for Basic to Pro, Advanced to Pro, etc

http://store.lightorama.com/solire.html this is a $29 license renewal.

Sooo.... what to do, what to do? :)

This is for a software level upgrade.  Each level (Basic, Basic Plus, Standard, Advanced and Pro) gives more capability.  This page compares the software levels:

This is a software renewal.  A software renewal allows updating software versions (i.e. 4.3.20 or 4.3.34, or the latest 5.1.0).  Note that a level upgrade (for example Basic to Standard) ALSO includes an automatic Renewal.  A Renewal (either by buying it by itself or a software level upgrade) means that you can upgrade software versions for one year.

The software download page is:

A Renewal is the same price regardless of software level.  When you are initially buying a software license, it is for a specific license level (Basic, Basic Plus, Standard, Advanced or Pro).  You can later upgrade to a higher license level (which also includes a Renewal as previously noted).  You are not buying a license for a software version.

Hi Ryan.

I looked at your tickets,  and can only find the one instance of you asking about renewals/etc.  Your issue really boils down to confusion of what S4 Pixel Editor (what you asked about) and what S5 SEQUENCER are.  Only S4 has Pixel Editor, whereas only S5 has Sequencer (which combines the S4 Pixel Editor with the S4 Sequence Editor AND the S4 Visualizer).

We probably should have sent you the following information.   In a nutshell, what Jim is saying is 100% correct:

There are several options to move to newer versions of our software. Those options depended on your budget, what your current license level is, if you want to move to a new level, or if you want an add-on.

Option 1:
If you have any license level other than Pro and want to increase your level (Say from Basic+ to Standard) you can purchase an UPGRADE. The upgrade not only increases your software level, but also entitles you to updates for 1 year. If you have Basic or Basic+, this is the best value for the money: An upgrade to Basic+ from Basic is $20, while an upgrade from Basic+ to Standard is $30.  With S4, a new license level above Advanced has been added called 'Pro' that you may want to consider as well.

Option 2:
If you have Pro, or want to stay at the level you are currently at, purchase a license RENEWAL for $29.95. That will allow you to use any future updates for 1 year.

Option 3:
If you do not already own a Superstar license, You can purchase the SuperStar add-on, starting at $29.95. When you purchase the Superstar add on, you are also given a complimentary license renewal (the same one you would get if you purchased option 2 above).

Option 4:
If you already own a Superstar license, you can purchase a SuperStar UPGRADE.  When you purchase a Superstar upgrade, you are also given a complimentary license renewal (the same one you would get if you purchased option 2 above).

Remember: Your software is good for life and does NOT expire. Only your ability to go to newer versions requires a license renewal or upgrade.

Thanks everyone.  I think my ticket only shows once because it is the same ticket: just the question asked twice!  LOL.  I'm an old time LOR user still on 2.8.8 as I have avoided the pixel craze long enough!  :)

So, if I am understanding (again, sorry for being thick!) if I have 2.8.8 and want to move to S5 I am looking at either the upgrade ($140) or the full Pro version ($189).

You tell me what to buy and I'm on it!  How's that for an easy sale! LOL

You are looking at $29.95 for a renewal at your current license level. This will give you v5.1 and updates for one year. Or, if you upgrade to Pro $189 then you also get a renewal for v5.1 and upgrades for one year.
