Dale W
How do you use the sequence editor to open up a backup file (extension .bak)?
DownTown
Just rename it to the correct extension (las or lms), and open as normal.D.T.
Dale W
My computer is telling me it is a BAK file (under type of file). How can I trick it into thinking it is a lms file?
FiveCents
Right click file then select Rename then change the extantion to las or lmsafter you rename it there is no need to trick the computer.Paul
Dale W
My Vista computer will not allow me to do that. Sure, I can rename it a million times, but every time it is still a BAK file.
rwertz
Maybe the actual file extension is hidden. I believe Windows defaults to hiding certain extensions. The backup file should actually appear to have a double file extension like MySequence.lms.bak .To show all file extensions:1. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.2. Click the View tab, and then, under Advanced settings, clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box, and then click OK.http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/a0b4607a-6fa8-42ab-aef6-7418183389da1033.mspx
