MP3 Show director unit as a "regular" Controller - possible?

I am trying to use a Show director capable controller as the last unit in a 9 unit daisy chain - is this possible?  I have power to it, and a solid red light, but don't seem to be able to "find" it running Hardware Utility .......

A director unit is usually the first in line, however, since it is a controller {controls the other controllers}, it should be possible to place it anywhere in the chain, first, middle, last.  As long as it's getting power, it should work.   Also the Director WILL NOT show up in the main window that shows the other controllers {not sure about the newer versions, but pre version 4, you have to go into the MP3 tab to see the Director unit.    At least that's they way it works in my version, 3.8.2, again, don't know about anything past this version I use.

For those who need to know, certainly "yes" at the end of a daisy chain  - because I added the 4th house successfully tonight after troubleshooting some other issues all day.
